FAAT CATS  Third Annual Motorcycle Ride

"The Last Ride Home"

November is National Adoption Month

"The Last Ride Home" is a National Event that was started locally in 2008. Unlike many other motorcycle rides this one is different. We will not all meet in one place, hire a police escort and give away prizes at the end. I have ridden in many of those types of rides and they work, but FAAT CATS wants to do something that makes it less costly and gets more of the money raised to the kids that need the help. Plus you get to organize your own ride.

"The Last Ride Home" is set up this way:

1. You Create a "Motorcycle/ Scooter Team" on a web site called First Giving. Give it a fun name like "Fat Boys" or "Women for Kids", you get the idea. You do not even have to own a Motorcycle (more on this later).

2. You will be the "Leader of your Team" and enroll your friends to ride with you. November 7th is the National "Last Ride Home Day", but any day in November is fine.  Might snow on November 7th.

3. You set a fundraising goal that all your team mates work toward. $35 per person is our recommended minimum amount to ride.

4. All money raised from your State (or any US Territory or District) will go back to your area minus the fees charged to us by First Giving. We have used First Giving before and they do a great job at small fee. If you do not know who is helping foster kids get homes in your area ACDC will find out. MARE is the Massachusetts organization that will receive the 2010 donations where I live.

5. Get together and ride. If you live in the snow belt this may be your last ride of the season. Ask your local motorcycle shop to open up on November 7th (it is a Sunday) to provide you with a place to start and end. If you do not ride, go to your local motorcycle shop and ask them to sponsor it. You really do "Meet the Nicest People on a Honda" or any brand of motorcycle or scooter!

6. Have fun! The more fun you make it the more money you will raise and more kids will find homes.

Why are we riding?  To let the foster kids know that we care. Riders will help support FAAT CATS with a $35.00 or more donation to enter the ride. When the "sign up" web site is up you will be notified. If you are busy that day, you can ride later on in November.

This may be the last ride of the season but it is the most important.
